About the Artist

Tom Hofer is a Los Angeles native who in 2013 finished a 24-year stint as a graphic designer for the Palisadian-Post newspaper in Pacific Palisades. His daily — and literal — “cut-and-paste” duties there eventually led to a more creative application of his craft,  and also gave birth to his desire to call attention to that which is usually overlooked, when he began his detailed collage reinterpretations of vintage matchbooks using primarily acid-free art paper and tread tape, with re-purposed coat-hangers for the "staple"!

Hofer is currently distracted / influenced by mid-century art, architecture and graphics, which he enjoys recreating in works depicting non-existent pulp films, paperbacks and businesses …
